Parliament adjourns sitting over mic failure

The Transitional National Legislative Assembly adjourned Monday parliamentary discussion due to technical glitch which has malfunctioned all the microphones in the hall.

Hon. Oliver Mori, spokesperson of the parliament told the media that the technicians are working on the unexpected glitch.

“All the mics in the hall, when you talk, cannot be heard and this is a technical problem, which the people of electricity and the sound system in Parliament will handle,” said Mori.

Mori stated that the Right Honorable first deputy speaker, Nathaniel Oyet decided to call the sitting off after minutes of soundstage.

“The members waited for some time with the hope that the mistake could be rectified of the sound, but it was not forthcoming,” Mori stated.

The august house was supposed to listen to a quarterly report from the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) by the interim chairperson Amb. Maj. Gen. (Retired) Charles Tai Gituai.

The second agenda would be a report of the three standing specialized committees of foreign affairs and international cooperation, legislation, and justice for the supervision of the financing terrorism 1999 act by the chairperson of the Committee of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Honorable Engineer Joseph Malual Dom.

The scheduled items have now been rescheduled to Tuesday, when the audio issue is expected to have been resolved.
