Panyijiar County returns stolen animals to Yirol East

Authorities in Panyijiar County of Unity have recovered and returned 43 stolen herds of cattle to Yirol East and Yirol West in Lakes state.

The animals raided in June were returned to their rightful owners on Wednesday.

James Dhuor Apiu, the Executive Director for Yirol East appreciated local authorities in Panyijiar County for their cooperation in tracing the cattle.

“Officials from Panyijaar cooperated with security forces in the area to trace the cattle which were raided in June from Yirol West and Yirol East Counties. They were returned to their rightful owners here at Nyang,” he said.

Mr. Dhuor said efforts are underway to locate the whereabout of more cattle which were stolen from the same areas.

Authorities in the two states are conducting joint security monitoring to halt cross-boundary criminal activities.
