One soldier killed; two others injured in Twic

At least two South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) soldiers have been injured and one killed by unidentified gunmen in Twic County, Warrap State.

The incident occurred on Thursday around 3:30 PM at Bombil military base in Ajak Kuac Payam.

The deceased has been identified as sergeant Lino Lual Madut and the injured corporal Joseph Ngor Ngor and a resident Lal Wek Koot.

Brigadier Marko Mawien Madut, the Chief Inspector of Police in Twic County said despite deployment of forces at the military base, unknown gunmen continue to attack the barracks.

“The criminals were passing near the military unit and when the soldiers saw them, they started firing at them and in the crossfire, one soldier was shot dead and two others injured,” Brigadier Marko told Mayardit 90.7 FM.

“The suspects managed to escape,” he added.
