The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State government has issued a severe warning to individuals who are in possession of public assets, requiring them to return them by Monday.

These consist of farm equipment, generators, and vehicles, including Toyota Landcruiser V-8s, pickups, and hardtops.

This call comes as the state legislative assembly reconvenes and focuses on transparency and accountability during the reopening of its fourth session.

The government aims to recover all public assets that have been misused or misappropriated.

Governor Simon Uber Mawut emphasized the importance of returning public assets and warned that individuals who fail to comply will face consequences, including public naming and potential legal action.

“I want to assure you, the individuals, that if you own the tractors, whether they were given to you or sold to you, return them back to the state secretariat by Monday,” Mawut stated.

“If not, the minister of Information will publish your name on Akol Yam FM and Weerbei FM. After that, measures will be taken to confiscate those tractors.”

Earlier this month, the asset recovery committee submitted a report to the governor detailing the missing public assets.
