NBGS police to seize motorbikes with SSPDF, SSPS number plates

Authorities in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State say motorbikes with SSPDF (South Sudan People’s Defense Force) and SSPS (South Sudan Police Service) number plates will be confiscated.

The director of traffic police says they have noticed that motorbikes carrying these plates are being used for boda-boda business services in Aweil town and in the counties.

“We will take these motorbikes and return them to where they belong. If they are with SSPDF plates, we will take them to the headquarters of Division 3, while those with SSPS plates will be handed over to police headquarters here in Aweil town,” Maj.-Gen. Nhial Nhial told Akol Yam 91 FM.

Nhial argues that the act is tarnishing the image of the two institutions, something he said will not be tolerated.

The confiscation exercise has been slated to commence next week, starting in Aweil town.

He said that these plates were issued for people to do official duties but not private work.

According to Nhial, some of these riders cause traffic accidents and flee without any trace because the plates are the same.
