Police in Northern Bahr Ghazal State say they are holding a suspect behind the killing of a Sudanese refugee in Wedwil camp on Tuesday.
They identified the suspect as Athiree Raba Mohammed Raba, age 27 – a Sudanese refugee as well.
According to Capt. Guot Guot, state police spokesperson, Raba stabbed to death an Issa, 30, at around 9PM at the refugee camp.
Guot said they acted on an unnamed eyewitness report, who said he discovered the body lying on the ground in the rain.
“He told the police that he exchanged paths with someone who was walking very fast when he immediately found the with fresh knife wounds,” the spokesperson told Akol Yam FM.
At the time of the arrest, Guot said the suspect was found in possession of a knife believed he used to kill the victim.
The motive behind the killing is not clear, but police say primary investigation revealed that the deceased and the suspect had a misunderstanding a week before the incident.
