MP condemns Lotome- Chukudum road killing

A member of parliament representing Constituency Number 19 in Budi County at the Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly has condemned killing of two travelers along Lotome-Chukudum road recently.

On Tuesday, a boda-boda rider and a passenger were reported killed in cold blood by unidentified gunmen on Lobelibel Bridge. The attackers did not take any of the victims’ valuables, including the motorbike.

The deceased were identified as Moris Uche Paul aged 30 and Jackson Mandela, 25.

The lawmaker described the incident as tragedy and it has caused fear among travelers along the highway.

“This is a tragedy. These people were shot pointblank;  one died instantly and the other succumbed to the gunshot wound hours later perhaps due to bleeding,” Hon. Peter Bosco Lotyan told Singaita FM.

He said the two were travelling from Kenya via Uganda to Chukudum when they felt into the hands of the killers. The motive of the killing remains unclear.

“I would like to tell the youth, especially the whole of Eastern Equatoria State to adhere to government policy of peaceful coexistence,” Hon. Bosco stated.
