Man survives fire blaze in Nyamlel after wife allegedly torch Tukul

Police in Aweil says they have arrested a woman accused of torching a family Tukul and injuring her husband. The official says the incident happened on Thursday this week in Nyamlel county in Aweil West.

The victim was admitted to Nyamlel hospital with minor injuries after being rescued by his son before the fire spread to the whole house.

Captain Guot Guot Akol is the police spokesman in Aweil, Northern Bahr el Ghazal. He says the issue was a family dispute, which the lady has admitted to the police accusing her husband of using the money for alcohol.

He says the man was sleeping when the fire started and could not come out because the door was locked outside.

Guot urges the community to seek a peaceful solution to family disputes.

“My advice goes to the entire community to stop domestic violence because we recorded several cases claiming people’s lives.”

The Police have encouraged the public to report a case to community leaders or police to rescue the lives of innocent people and then kill or destroy the properties.

He appealed to community chiefs to always help their people resolve disputes and not resort to violence.
