A 28-year-old man identified as Lopiding Samali from Moruarengan village has been killed in Lotiyan Boma of Mogos Payam, Kapoeta East County, after being suspected of stealing a goat from a local kraal.

According to area Chief Remo Nabukamile, the incident occurred on Wednesday when a man named Akomol allegedly stole a goat from Chuichui residents and tied it in a nearby bush.

He then went to the center, found Samali, and lured him under false pretenses to the location where the goat had been, leading to a deadly encounter.

“The issue is about a goat that was stolen, someone known by the name Akomol stole the goat from the goats of those of Chuichui, went and tied it in one of the trees in the nearby bush,” Chief Nabukamile told Singaita FM in an interview.

“He went to the centre to look for the knife, found the victim and asked him help me with a knife there is something I want us to go and eat somewhere here.”

Chief Nabukamile explained that Samali accompanied Akomol, unaware of the situation.

However, the owners of the goat had already retrieved the animal and were lying in wait.

Samali was captured and killed on the spot while Akomol fled the scene.

“When they reached where the goat was tied, it was not there the owners had taken it and they hide themselves there, and the person who stole the goat (Akomol) run away after realizing it the friend was caught and people killed him,” the Chief continued.

“In fact, he does not know the color of the goat and as we speak now the goat is alive this is what happened in Lotiyan.”

The chief stated that the goat is alive and that the three suspects who killed the deceased are currently in police custody in Kapoeta Town, awaiting further legal action.

“We have arrested those who killed the deceased, and no one should do anything bad in the house of Lobai and so we are waiting for the relatives of the decease to come and open up a case nothing more,” he said.
