Magwi woman ‘kicks neighbor to death’

A young woman has reportedly killed another over a radio set in Obbo Payam of Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State.

Sharon Alonyo had lent her radio to Albaa Lajula, a neighbor, on Wednesday, according to police.

However, when she later went to the 45-year-old’s house to pick it up, she found out that the radio had been damaged, triggering a quarrel.

In the heat of the moment, a scuffle ensued.

“After Sharon found out that her radio got damaged, she attacked Albaa, kicking her in the abdomen. She died on the spot,” Col. Poulino Lokete, chief inspector of police in Magwi, told Singaita FM.

As a result, Lokete said the 22-year-old woman had to seek protection from the county government’s after the victim’s relatives tried to avenge Albaa.

“The suspect surrendered herself to the police for rescue after Albaa’s relatives and some community members tried to kill her,” he said.

For his part, the paramount chief of Obb Payam appealed to the community to desist from violent conflict.

Ringo Filbert said: “I just wish to urge our community members to stop taking law into their own hands. They must give chance to the police to handle any misunderstanding.”
