A man in Cueibet, who had just won a court case against another man he had accused of having an affair with his wife, is dead.
Marop Domkoc Agany, 35, was shot dead while returning to his house on Monday evening.
Police say they do not know who attacked and killed Marop – an SSPDF soldier, but he had an issue with Mabak Malek Chikut.
Recently, Presiding Judge Machol Achuoth ruled against Mabak and ordered him to pay seven cows as a fine for adultery in accordance with customary law in Lakes State.
“The man accused of committing adultery with his wife was asked to pay seven cows but he failed to do so; and in the process, the military man was ambushed on his way home,” said Maj. Elija Mabor, police spokesperson in the state.
Makuac added that the police have instructed joint security forces to track down the suspect linked to the killing of the private.
