Lakes holds sodomy, defilement suspect

Police authority in Lake state say they are investigating 35-year-old man accused of molesting two boys in Rumbek East County.

The suspect – Maroor Keroor Muorater – picked up the boys at gunpoint on Sunday evening and took them to a place where he sexually abused them.

” He moved them from Thon-Aduel to Adol village where he sodomized them this morning,” Lt. Col. Moses Machuoch, acting police spokesperson, told Mingkaman FM.

The boys, who cannot be named due to child abuse confidentiality policy, are aged 12 and 9.

The boys were taken to Rumbek state hospital for treatment. Several phone calls to the hospital administrator went unanswered.

Machuoch added that Keroor is now being held at a military detention facility where he awaits arraignment.

Article 248 of the South Sudan Penal Code 2008 stipulates that:

“Whoever has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any person…commits an offense, and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years and may also be liable to a fine.
