Police authorities in Lakes State say they have arrested an eight-year-old boy in Yirol West over death of another boy.
John, whose real name has been withheld due to juvenile identity protection policy, hit his playmate with a sharp stick, causing serious internal injuries. The incident occurred at Majok village on Monday morning.
The victim, Marut Mathiang Amat, was later taken to Mapuordit Hospital, where he succumbed to internal bleeding on Monday night, according to the police.
“So, police are now holding the 8-year-old boy at the Yirol Town police station,” said Lt. Colonel Moses Machuoc, state police spokesperson.
The authorities have appealed to the family of the deceased child to remain calm as the state government handles the matter.
