
President Salva Kiir, in a meeting on Wednesday with the newly appointed Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), reaffirmed his commitment to the modernization of Juba International Airport.
In a statement by the office of the president, Kiir emphasized
the importance of advancing South Sudan’s air transport sector to drive
economic growth.
John Woja Elinana, the new Director General of the aviation
authority, outlined recent developments and improvements in the aviation sector
including airport safety, security, and access control as key milestones.
He explained that these upgrades form part of a broader
initiative aimed at enhancing governance and operational efficiency within the
industry.
The SSCAA is working closely with stakeholders to align
South Sudan’s air transport standards with international benchmarks, aiming to
strengthen connectivity, attract investment, and promote sustainable growth.
