The former commissioner of Kapoeta North County has turned down a new appointment by President Salva Kiir.

In a republican order read out on the state-run SSBC television on Friday night, the president removed Epone Emmanuel Lolimo, after four years of service.

He then replaced him with David Naaye Lomor, Eastern Equatoria State youth union's chairperson, and made him (Epone) a lawmaker at the state parliament.

Epone, according to the decree, replaces Hon. Simon Lodowuon Macharinyang.

But in a letter seen by Singaita FM, Epone expresses his gratitude for the new position but says ‘no’.

“While I am honored by the offer, I believe I have weighed this decision thoughtfully and feel that it is in the best interest of both our great party, SPLM, and myself to focus on my responsibilities and continue serving our party in my individual capacity as a member of the party,” he stated.

He argues that Hon. Macharinyang should be reinstated, claiming that they are all party members prepared to take on additional roles inside the party.

“I am exceedingly aware of the trust and confidence placed in me by this offer. I am confident that Hon. Simon Lodowuon Macharinyang, if reinstated, will continue to make significant contributions to the community,” he explained.
