Calm has returned to the restive Kapoeta East County, where
fighting over pastures and waterpoints left one person dead recently, according to the county commissioner.
On Thursday last week, the Buno and Nyangiya communities
clashed the resources.
As a result, the county government detained nearly 30
suspects and transferred them to Kapoeta town for prosecution.
“We are very good; there is nothing bad now after the
government intervened,” Abdallah Angelo Lokeno told Singaita FM on Wednesday.
The commissioner went on to say that the conflict was fueled
by area politicians, some of whom are residing outside the area.
Lokeno said the unnamed politicians should be identified
and punished.
“They should be arrested, whether they are in Kapoeta, or
Narus, or in Napotpot, because they are influencing the civilians to fight,” he
added.
