Israel to launch free cardiac surgery clinic for children

A free heart surgery clinic for children is set to open at Al Sabah Hospital in Juba, launched by the Israeli group Save a Child’s Heart to help improve healthcare in South Sudan.

The announcement was made during a meeting between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Israeli Ambassador Gershon Kedar.

“Ambassador Kedar announced that the Israeli NGO Save a Child’s Heart will soon open a free cardiac surgery clinic at Juba’s Al Sabah Children’s Hospital,” said president’s office on Thursday in a statement.

Ambassador Kedar expressed hopes for South Sudan’s stability and prosperity and Israel’s commitment to cooperation in agriculture, health, and education.

In addition to the healthcare project, Ambassador Kedar also briefed President Kiir on Israel’s STEM education program at the University of Juba.

“He also updated President Kiir on Israel’s STEM education program at the University of Juba, aimed at inspiring high school students in science and engineering,” the statement stated.

President Kiir thanked Israel, emphasizing the initiatives’ importance for South Sudan’s development and shared focus on sustainable growth.
