Some South Sudanese artists said the subnational conflicts across the country has hindered music progress because they cannot hold concerts in most of the state due to insecurity.
In a Radio talk show on Wednesday at Mayardit FM, the artists said successful music shows only happens in peaceful places.
Female artist, Achuei Deng Ajiing, said thet insecurity makes it difficult for artists to visit some states to showcase their talents.
“Our uncontrolled behaviors of taking disagreement to violence have embarrassed the country. Musicians are mostly affected because we cannot visit some states because of the insecurities,” said Achuei.
She noticed that most of the insecurity is being caused by the youth and in turn kill the youth. She urges the youth to focus on productive activities other disputes and violence.
“Those who die are youth. They died of what they know, and it is better for them to focus their energies on issues that are productive to the nation and themselves. Like doing business and engaging in education,’’ she said.
Musician Single Dee, whose real name is Deng James described the South Sudan as a country of unlimited resources for everyone and said it could serve all if all chose peace over violence.
The musicians advocate for peace to pave way for artists to visit any side of the country and showcase their talents.
”Fighting over the resources which includes lands, water and other resources is a meaningless thought and waste of time and energy. So let us choose peace to give everyone freedom of movement to anywhere he or she lives. I cannot be fearing to go to Upper Nile states just because my tribe is not there and let us take South Sudan as a tribe for all South Sudanese,” Deng underscored.
Another artist, Angelo Kiir believes disagreements are part of humans but should be handle with respect to humanity and avoid conflict by having peace with one another.
“In human life, there must be disagreement but above all, repentance and accepting each other is important and the best way to make peaceful society. The peace of the heart is the peace of the society. There is nowhere you can have peace with your heart and fail to have peace with others which is the society,” Kiir explained.
Most parts of South Sudan live in conflict of cattle raiding, revenge attacks and land disputes -a practice which has maintain subnational conflict across the country with significant effect on economic, political and social status.
