Ikotos police probe killing of MTN security guard

Police in Ikotos County, Eastern Equatoria State, say they are investigating the suspects linked to the killing of a security guard on the outskirts of the town early this week.

Luis Dominic Lotaba, 75, was shot dead by unidentified gunman at his workplace on Monday evening, according to the deputy inspector of police.

He was the guard for MTN cellular antennae, located about 15 kilometers from Ikotos town center.

Gabriel Akom Arok said the attackers then placed his body in his hut and locked it before fleeing.

“When those who heard sound of gunshot rushed to the scene, they found out that he had already died,” Arok confirmed to Singaita FM.

The motive behind the killing is unknown, but the police officer suspected the gunmen returned to town as shown by their footprints.

Arok said they will ensure that the killers of Lotaba are identified and brought to book.

Efforts to reach MTN management in Ikotos for comment were not immediately successful.
