Herder killed by cattle raiders in Rumameer area

One person has been killed in a cattle-related incident in Abyei Administrative Area on Wednesday.

The incident happened  Rumameer County.

According to Abyei area security advisor, cattle raiders killed the herder at around 3:30 PM at grazing land in Guk Chol village.

Kelek Kon Lual added that the suspected criminals made away with 400 cattle but were later recovered by the community police and armed youth in the area.

He advised cattle herders to move in groups rather than in small numbers.

“You need to assess which areas are save for the cows to graze before you go there in order to minimize cattle raiding incidents.”

Last month, one person was killed in Twic by raider and hundreds of cattle were driven away by suspected youth from Mayom. Most of the animals were recovered.

Local authorities in Mayom in Unity state and Twic in Warrap state pledged to address issues of cattle raiding among their communities.
