Two people have been arrested after a man reportedly used their gun to commit suicide in Twic County of Warrap state.
According to a police report, a 28-year-old man shot himself through the mouth on Thursday using a gun he found hanging on a tree on a farm in Man Alabei village of Aweng Payam.
The police then arrested the gun owner and a girl who were farming in the vicinity of the incident.
“A person can take a gun without your consent and killing another person and you become part of the crime as gun owner,” said Brigadier General Marko Mawien Madut, Director of Police in Twic County.
General Mawien said the man and the daughter are being interrogated to explain circumstances surrounding the incident.
He urged gun owners to be careful with where they keep their guns.
