Governor Adil instructs JCC CEO to supervise institution activities

The Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil in a gubernatorial decree on Friday evening assigned the Chief Executive Officer of Juba City Council, Can. Martin Simon Wani to Supervise the General Activities of Juba City Council until a substantive Mayor is appointed as soon as possible.

He relieves Emmanuel Khamis Richard who has been acting as the Mayor of Juba City Council since the removal of Michael Ladu-Allah-Jabu and his deputy Thiik Thiik Mayardit from their duties in June.

The removal of Khamis comes after lawmakers, women activists, civil society groups and the public necessitated his removal after a viral video was seen on social media platforms of him slapping a female hawker at the Seventh-day Adventist roundabout.

In the physical assault incident, Khamis was also seen carrying two pistols in his hand.
