A senior
police officer in Gogrial East County, Warrap State, has cautioned residents
about domestic violence.
The warning
comes after the office recorded over 100 cases of domestic violence with six
deaths.
Additionally,
among the six deaths, two were women and four men, with the latest death
incident occurring in October.
In the Mayen
Rual village of Manyang Payam, 8-year-old Ahok Majok Majok died from beatings.
Thiik Agoth
Giir, director of the criminal investigation department in Gogrial East County,
says the office also recorded two cases of domestic violence over the weekend.
Agoth
revealed that alcohol and misunderstandings are the main causes of domestic
violence there.
“This year,
everyone wants to stab someone with a knife; someone wants to box someone,” he
told Mayardit FM.
“And the
reason the cases have increased is because people no longer want to respect
themselves. Youth don’t want to behave like youth, and the elderly don’t want
to behave like elders. So, this has created conflicts.”
He added
that, unlike this year, when the majority of crimes involve spear and knife
attacks, last year's crimes involved firearms.
