A young girl died after being hit by a vehicle in Warrap State’s Twic County on Wednesday morning, a traffic police officer has told Mayardit FM.
The incident occurred at 8 am on at Kuel Buut village in Wunrok Payam.
The deceased, identified as Ayen Awan Tong, 13, was attempting to cross the road when the vehicle knocked her down.
“She was trying to cross the road, when the vehicle hit her on the head, killing her instantly,” said Col. Kur Mabuoc, inspector of traffic police in Twic County.
Col. Mabuoc described the vehicle, which was traveling from Abyei to Wau, as a grey Toyota Premio with registration number plate: SSD 236 VU.
The unnamed driver, according to the police inspector, is now under police custody.
This is the second tragic road accident recorded in the state in a span of seven days. Last week, one person died and another injured in a head-on collision between a motorbike and truck in Kuajok town.
