Gen. Bior Ajang Duot, former deputy chief of staff for operations of the South Sudan’s People
Defense Forces, has died.
According to Gen. Aguer Panyang, former army spokesperson, Bior died of a heart attack on Tuesday night.
He disclosed that the officer, who was also the chairperson of Twic East Community, had just taken shower when he collapsed and died.
"He was trying to sit on his bed when he fell and died immediately at around 8pm. A doctor, who examined him later, declared that Bior died of a heart attack," Aguer, who is a Twic East leader, told Mingkaman FM on Wednesday.
"Gen Bior was a liberator and one of the founders of SPLM/A. We celebrate his achievements."
Apart from the position of the chief of defense, Gen. Bior held several positions in the security sector, including deputy minister of defense.
Bior is survived by several children and wives.
