Five people injured in a road accident in Kapoeta East

At least five people have sustained serious injuries after a truck overturned along the Kapoeta-Mogos highway on Saturday in Eastern Equatoria state.

26-year-old, Alan Bolin is among the 15 people who were aboard during the 4PM incident in Kapoeta East County.

He told Singaita 88.3 FM that they were travelling to Jie from Kapoeta, but upon reaching Morukoris hill, the truck veered off the road and overturned due to the slipperiness of the muddy road.

“In the middle of the muddy road there was hole, unfortunately the vehicle overturned. So2 of us were pulled from the car unconscious while some had injuries,” Bolin narrated.

He added that they were rescued by another vehicle which brought them up to the hospital.

Bolin explained that those who were injured during the incident are currently nursing wounds at Kapoeta Civil Hospital.

Dr. Achuil Majok, a health worker at Kapoeta Civil Hospital said they only received 2 patients who were involved in the accident.

“One is male and a young girl. There condition is not bad. The man okay is stable and can be discharge, [but] the young girl still have weakness of the limb. She needs to be monitored for 2 days,” he reported.
