Employee shoots dead RRC officials in Lakes

The Lakes State chairperson for Relief and Rehabilitation Commission was reportedly killed along with Rumbek Central County RRC coordinator Joseph Maker Amuom in the RRC on Friday.

The victims are Dut Malual (chairperson) and Maker Amuom.

The incident occurred at the RRC compound, according to officials, who identified the suspect as Makuer Manyang Ater – employee of the public institution.

The state police Spokesperson Major Elijah Mabor, the motive behind the killings was related to a dispute over cattle.

Meanwhile, Lakes State Minister for Information Paul Chabiet urged relatives of the deceased to allow government to handle the matter.

“I am calling on local communities across Lakes to resume their normal duties,” he told Mingkaman FM.
