As Muslims celebrate the conclusion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, President Salva Kiir Mayardit has emphasized the importance of peace and national unity.

President Kiir noted that fasting teaches mindfulness of Allah's commands and empathy while encouraging all citizens to remain committed to building a peaceful South Sudan.

"Fasting means spiritual discipline to renew moral and spiritual standing, being mindful of Allah's commands and prohibitions," said Kiir on Sunday.

Kiir further connected these teachings to the broader mission of fostering peace in the country.

"The Holy Month of Ramadan teaches the faithful self-restraint, empathy for the less fortunate, and an increased focus on spiritual growth. These values are vital as we work toward a peaceful and united South Sudan," Kiir stated.

As South Sudan celebrates Eid Al-Fitr, the president urged the people to continue praying for peace and harmony across the nation.

"I urge you all to continue praying for our country that Allah (the most Merciful and Gracious) may give us collective wisdom, leaders and followers alike for peace to reign in every corner of our country," he asserted.

President Kiir emphasized that every citizen has a part to play in building peace and urged people to take an active role in the country's peaceful growth.

"I further encourage everyone of you to contribute to peacebuilding so that our country remains peaceful," he added.
