In Gogrial West County, Warrap State, a police officer has killed his mother by hacking.
Lt.-Col. Anei Madut Akol, 45, did the act while intoxicated, the chief inspector of the county police said.
Col. Joseph Mathony Nhial Mayen stated that the suspect attacked his 60-year-old mother, Nyibol Akuei Madut, on Monday night at around 7 p.m. after returning home with a machete and baton.
Col. Mathony described the event to Mayardit FM, saying, "He came home when he was drunk, armed with a panga and a baton, and started calling out his mother, who was inside the house."
"He said, 'I have been calling you, and you are not responding, and you don't even listen to me in this house', as his mother emerged. 'I will murder you today.' And he attacked her right away after that."
Following her arrest, Anei, who was working for the Gogrial West police station, is currently being held by the police.
