Authorities in Lakes State have reported that a
50-year-old lady tragically perished on Monday after accidentally slipping into
a well in Cueibet County.
The event took place during the evening in Maloupec
village.
The deceased, who was under the influence of alcohol, was
on her way from a neighbor’s house to her house when she lost her way and fell
into the well, according to the police spokesperson.
Maj. Elijah Mabor claims that when removing the
deceased's body from the well, the police found that she had stretched her
neck, which ultimately resulted in her death.
“We found that she had strained her neck, which we
suspect led to her death,” he told Mingkaman on Monday.
He blames the victim's family for not taking care of
their elders, particularly when they are under the influence of alcohol.
“It was not good enough to let her walk alone in the
evening while drunk. It was the responsibility of the people around her to make
sure she reached her house safely,” the police officer added.
