The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance is calling on all parties to the Revitalized Peace Agreement to honor their commitments and accelerate its full implementation.

Speaking at a press conference in Juba, the Alliance’s Deputy Chairperson, Dabek Mabior Arok, urged stakeholders to respect the agreement without violations.

“We urge all parties to respect the revitalized peace agreement and commit to fully implementing it without any breach,” Mabior said.

He appealed to the government to release the necessary funds for the peace process, particularly for the unification of forces outlined in Chapter Two of the agreement.

“We call on the government to provide funds for implementing the peace deal, especially for the Chapter Two unification of forces,” he added.

Mabior also emphasized the importance of adequately funding the country’s electoral institutions to ensure they meet their mandate ahead of the transitional period’s end.

“The electoral commission needs to be empowered and given the resources to complete their work,” he noted.

While acknowledging challenges in the peace process, he encouraged continued dialogue to resolve obstacles and achieve the goals of the transitional roadmap.

“There are challenges but let us continue to dialogue and address them so we can reach the end of the transitional year,” he said.

His remarks come as South Sudan approaches the end of its transitional timeline, with stakeholders under growing pressure to meet key milestones of the peace agreement.
