Brother fatally shoots brother in Chukudum

Authorities are holding a 25-year-old man for killing his younger brother in Budi County of Eastern Equatoria state.

The suspect – identified as Michael Boilo – is said to have shot dead his 23-year-old brother in Chukudum. The deceased has been identified as Paul Taban.

The Executive Director of Homiri Payam says the incident happened on Sunday at around 8PM at a family house.

Lokiru Raphael Maurice added that the suspect was found intoxicated during the time of the fatal shooting.

“…with the help of organized forces, we managed to arrest this man after he wanted to escape [under] influence of alcohol and other things. We managed to bring him to the police,” he narrated.

The mother of the two brothers, Teresa Anthony told Singaita FM that she witnessed the killing that seemed unprovoked.

“My son who killed my young boy came home at 8pm and asked for food, I gave him the food and he went and sat outside. His young brother also came, but told me that Boilo wanted to kill him. So when I came out of the house, Boilo immediately shot his brother in the body and he died on the spot. I was just there at the door watching,” she narrated.

“When he [Boilo] saw that his brother has died, he ran out [of the compound] saying he is going to let people know that he has killed his own brother.”

Teresa added that Michael Boilo has often shown violent tendencies.

“Last year, he burnt the house and we run to Juba. He wanted to kill his two younger brothers, but I took all of the children to Juba, and when I came back, things were not good although he called me from Juba saying things will be different.”

The Executive Director said they are treating the incident has a murder and manslaughter.

“He did not tell us anything but we arrested him with the gun after he became wild and wanted to kill people around,” Lokiru said.
