Bol Mel airlifted to Juba after road accident

The head of ARC Resource Corporation Ltd and seven of his workers have been reportedly airlifted to Juba for further medication after a road accident.

The accident occurred along Panjap Aweil South – Aweil town road on Monday at 9:00 PM, leaving an elderly woman dead.

Full details of the accident are still sketchy. However, a doctor says Benjamin Bol Mel – who is also the presidential advisor on special programs – and the workers eight sustained minor injuries.

“This morning, they got airlifted to Juba so that they could get further treatment since they have some minors injuries,” Dr. Wol Wol, a medical doctor at Aweil Civil hospital, told Akol Yam FM.

ARC is building roads in most parts of the country. Last week, President Salva Kiir visited Aweil partly to commission construction of 600-kilometer road.

On their return from the ceremony, three national ministers sustained minor injuries after a convoy they were traveling in involved in a chain reaction car accident.

The men and a woman were also flown to Juba for medical attention.
