Awerial County announces police training opportunity for young people

An official in Awerial County has announced 700 vacancies for young people willing to join the police service.

The recruitment drive targets those between the age of 18 and 35.

According to the County Commissioner, they have received instructions to encourage young people enlist this month.

Those selected will undergo a mandatory police training, the office of the Inspector of Police in Awerial has said.

Commissioner Philip Mawut Garang said they want to replace the current police force with officers who are fit and proactive officers.

“We lack energetic police officers and police is always associated with criminals who are strong. If we manage to get 700 energetic youth, they will be of great help to the County security,” he said.

Mawut added that “I am encouraging the youth to seize this opportunity and get trained to serve the community.”

Those who will enlist are expected to be transported to Juba for the training.
