The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has announced restrictions on access to the airside area of Juba International Airport, citing aviation safety and security concerns.

In a public notice issued on January 8, 2026, the Authority stated that “access to the airside area of Juba International Airport is strictly restricted,” emphasizing that no individual or vehicle will be allowed entry without valid authorization and an official airside permit.

According to the notice issued by the office of Director General, only persons and vehicles holding approved permits, including the Airside Vehicle Permit (AVP), the Airport Restricted Area Permit (ARO), or any other SSCAA approved access permit, will be allowed into the restricted area.

“This restriction applies to all persons and vehicles, with the exception of His Excellency the President of the Republic of South Sudan, and Their Excellencies the Vice Presidents and their officially designated vehicles,” the statement read.

The Authority warned that any unauthorized access to the airside will be treated as a serious violation of aviation safety and security regulations and will result in legal prosecution.

SSCAA further called on the public to cooperate, noting that “public cooperation is essential to ensure safety, security, and orderly airport operations.”
