Attackers kill 3, wounded 2 on Torit-Kapoeta highway

At least three people have reportedly been killed and two others wounded in Camp-15 road ambushed along Torit – Kapoeta highway on Sunday in Budi County, Eastern Equatoria state.

Police commissioner in Eastern Equatoria state, Major General James Monday said the commercial probox vehicle going from Torit to Kapoeta town fell in a highway ambush in Kimotong payam at Kor–Timsa (stream) on Sunday evening.

“A car going from Torit to Kapoeta fell in an ambush in a place call Kor Timsa near kediepo valley. Three people died  and two injure inside the Probox vehicle,” General Monday said on telephone interview.

Monday said the two other wounded people were rushed to Kapoeta Civil hospital and they are now receiving medication at the facility.

He stated that the joint security forces were sent from Torit and Kapoeta to the ambush scene to rescue, calm the situation in the area and ensure that the suspect are brought to book.

“Yesterday we sent the organized forces from Torit and Kapoeta to the scene to go and investigate the matter and bring the perpetrator to book to face the law,” He said.

The police boss who is in charge of security charged the communities living along the highway to provide the perpetrators to the government.

For his part, Kimotong payam’s administrator, Arkanjelo Lokilimoi whom in the incident happened in his area, condemn the incident as he turn back to the government to help in enforcement to apprehend criminals in the area.

“I’m just requesting the government to help me to apprehend those criminal in my areas so that nothing again will happen along the highway, let the people follow the foot marks of those criminal who are spoiling the payam because for me as an administrator, I don’t have force or army, government is the one who have powers. The guns have to be taken from them so that we see what’s next,” said Lokilimoi.
