At least five people killed by suspected Misseriya raiders in Aweil East

At least five civilians have been killed in a cattle raid in Angok area of Aweil East County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state on Friday last week.

According to the commander of the SSPDF Lion Division, three people were killed while attempting to recover their stolen animals.

General Akuei Akuei Ajou said the attackers are believed to be Sudanese Misseriya armed men.

“They [attackers] came and raided 81 cattle and the youth ran after them till they managed returned cattle from suspected Misseriya raiders. But before they could get back to the territory of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, 5 of them were died, and one from the attackers was also killed,” he narrated.

This year, suspected Misseriya armed men also killed 13 people in the border area of Aweil East County.
