Armed Misseriya attacks left Two dead, five wounded in NBG state

Authorities in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state say two people have been killed and five other wounded in the latest attack carried out by armed Misseriya tribesmen.The incident occurred at Panbol in Aweil East county near Warguet on Tuesday morning.

Hon. Joseph Akok Aleu is the security Adviser in Northern Bahr El Ghazal. He said five people were also killed from the armed Misseriya side after they clashes with Dinka Malual armed youth.

Akok said the fighting is triggered by grazing land disputes and accused Misseriya cattle herders of destroying crops that left two people dead last week. He said the government delegations is heading to the area in order to resolved the problem between the bordering communities.

He appeals for calm and allow dialogue to end the dispute among the cattle owners and the farmers. He said the five people wounded are receiving treatment at Malualkon hospital in Aweil East county.

Mr William Kolong Pioth is the state the peace coordinator. He said they are planning to conduct peace conference between Messyiria and Dinka Malual communities before pastoralists’ migration from Sudan to South Sudan.

William added that cattle herders migration between the two communities has been suspended at the moment until amicable agreements are put in place.

In 2020 the pastoralist communities of the Dinka Malual, the Rezigat and Misseriya from Sudan South Darfour signed agreement that officially sets rules for seasonal migration movement.
