Another road accident in Awerial kills two

A road accident has claimed two lives in Awerial County, Lakes State, area police have confirmed.

A 50-seater Bonga Bus was reportedly speeding when the driver lost control in Aluakluak on Wednesday evening.

“When the bus was swerving, two passengers dashed out through the window. Unfortunately, the bus overturned and rolled on them, killing them instantly,” Chol Arol Kelueljang, director of traffic police, told Mingkaman FM on Thursday.

Chol identified the deceased as Akok Kuch Akok, 23; and Deng Dut Mathiang, 21.

The driver of the bus with registration number SSD314Q, which was traveling from Aweil to Juba, is now being held at the Yirol police station, awaiting investigation.

“Three passengers who sustained minor injuries are nursing their wounded at the Yirol Hospital, in stable conditions,” Chol added.

The Wednesday accident brings to two the number of deadly road carnage in Awerial County. On Monday, a speeding Hilux killed two staff of Rumbek town court and left two pedestrians injured at Matangai.
