Man kills his wife and two in-laws at Rumameer in Abyei

Three people have died in a family dispute in Rumameer County in Abyei administrative area. The commissioner says an armed civilian shot his wife and two sisters-in-law in the house.

Hon. Chol Pur Chol is the commissioner of Rumameer county. He says the wife, who has one child, lives in a family home with her mother and sister.

Pur says the incident happened on Wednesday morning around 10 am at Guk-chol village. The suspect was later shot dead by the security forces after killing people and refusing to surrender to be taken to custody for investigation.

He says this was a shocking, strange act that he had never seen before.

“This culture of killing women using a gun is not our culture. Long time when you have to argue with you wife, then you can discuss as a family and reach an amicable solution and not violent, as a government we don’t want it to happen again,” said Chol

He urged the public not to take the law into their hands but instead look for other ways of solving family-related issues.
