Police in Tonj North County have arrested a 40-year-old man accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl on Thursday.
The suspect reportedly sexually abused the little girl while the mother had gone to the nearby market.
The alleged child molester is said to be a neighbor.
Daniel Deng Akok, a police officer in Makuok Payam said the suspect was arrested after the child reported the matter to the mother, who in turn told the police.
“He went to the house in the absence of the parents. He started by sending away the other children, and then he sexually abused the young girl,” officer Deng confirmed.
He added that the suspect is currently under investigation. He is expected in court on Monday.
The little girl was taken to hospital for treatment.
