Nearly 200 health workers lose jobs at Rumbek hospital

183 medical staffs have lost their jobs after the Health Pooled Fund organization ended its operations in Rumbek State Hospital, Lakes state, an official has said.

They were employees of the organization that closed its project on Wednesday.

The organization reportedly notified the hospital that they have run out of funds to maintain health personnel who were running the facility.

Some of the affected medical workers include nurses, clinical officers and midwives.

Dr. Mawet Bol Madit, the Administrator for Rumbek Hospital said this will have a great impact on the operations of the hospital, adding those whose contracts ended were not on government payroll.

“Today the HPF has left the facility officially in the presence of government officials…and the affected staff will not work in the facility without getting paid. It is bad news to our population who were served by the hospital,” he stated.
